Christ Church, Kilfaughnabeg, Glandore, Co. Cork was consecrated on the 12th September 1861 and since then has served the small Church of Ireland community.
Perched on a rocky ledge overlooking Glandore Harbour access is through a stone tunnel that leads to a place of peace and calm.
When it became apparent that the future of the church was at risk because of the dangerous condition of its tower a public meeting was held and a cross community committee formed to protect and restore this unique church.
Thanks to the huge support received from the general public and state agencies not only has the tower been restored but electricity has been installed, the gutters and downpipes replaced, new drains installed, the stonework repaired and last year the windows and interior were painted.
This has enabled the church to be used extensively to enrich the life of the local area and community while maintaining its integrity as a place of worship.
The church is open daily June-September (inclusive).
Sunday Service is at 10am during July and August and all are welcome
We invite you to visit the church, to stay a while and look at the wall panels outlining the history of local buildings, monuments and events that are on display – except during scheduled exhibitions.
